Cara's Trip to Rapha House

TravelerAwesome God moments and what He taught me through them:

Laughter, smiles and the body of Christ are universal.

I went expecting to serve others, but I felt that we were constantly being served and were unworthy—like Jesus washing the disciples’ feet.

God equips us and gives us exactly what we need in each moment. Being someone who does not function on four hours of sleep, I knew I would have to rely on God’s strength as I shared my story at a local church. The Holy Spirit put something else on my heart to speak about on the way to church. People came up to me afterward and said I was speaking right to them. It was really God speaking through me.…I barely remember what I said!

God does not overlook sacrifices we make to Him. I gave away my favorite pair of running shoes on our last day. For those of you who know me well, that is a big deal. That same day, our group didn’t have to pay exit taxes, and I got upgraded to business class on our flight for no reason! I was reminded that God will provide for me as I started to stress over upcoming bills.

I felt the Spirit’s presence as we prayed about the poverty we had seen and realizing we got a glimpse of how Christ was humbled to walk this earth. The Holy Spirit is alive and active in Cambodia!

Waiting 2 hours for food at a restaurant is NOTHING compared to the hunger people face every day in Cambodia.

I saw how God’s healing love can shine in the darkest of circumstances.

Things I once thought were necessities are actually luxuries. I NEVER want to get too comfortable with my life.

People are not projects, they are partners. We cannot fix every physical need , but we can love them and show them Jesus, which is all they need.
